Your First Word: Muraho!

Muraho (moo-RAH-ho) means "Hello!" You can say it when you greet elders, friends, or family. Try saying it out loud three times — Muraho! Muraho! Muraho!

💡 Fun Fact

In our culture, greeting someone properly shows respect and warmth.

2

How Are You?

After hello, you can ask Amakuru? (ah-mah-KOO-roo) — "How are you?" A common reply is Ni meza (nee MEH-zah), meaning "I am fine." Practice with a parent or sibling!

3

Thank You & Goodbye

Murakoze (moo-rah-KOH-zeh) means "Thank you." Say it when someone helps you or gives you something. Mwirirwe (mwee-REER-weh) is a friendly way to say goodbye. Your family will be so proud when you use these words!

💡 Fun Fact

Learning even a few words in Kinyarwanda connects you to grandparents and elders who speak it every day.
